About the Artist
David French

David French
was born in Great Yarmouth in 1939. After qualifying as a teacher
in 1964, he became Head of Art at Grantham College, but after 17
years he resigned to become a full-time professional Artist.
His first
subjects were race horses. He depicted notable horses such as Red
Rum, Shergar and Desert Orchard, and also painted the occasional
Greyhound.
The former
champion trainer Geoff de Mulder taught David to observe the anatomical
detail of the Greyhound, and since those early days of the early
80's David has gone on to portray 16 Greyhound Derby winners, countless
Classic and big Open race winners, including one for H.R.H. Prince
Edward.
David now
enjoys the reputation of being one of the world's top painters of
Greyhounds, and examples of his prints are keenly collected throughout
the world.
David French
Retired from Painting Greyounds in December 2007. He is enjoying
his retirement and has begun painting for himself. We have enjoyed
our association with Dave and still remian in contact with him.
We wish David the best in his retirement.
